A 14-year old boy, Zakir Ali, was stoned to death by unidentified persons in Narabari area of Kokrajhar Road. In yet another attack during the day, four others were injured by armed men in Kodalduha under Fakiragram police station.

Bangladeshis should not think Bodos as like other communities in Assam or in India. They have no rights to protests for discrimination in BTC area being illegal immigrants as Oboro. Today,only for misrule and indifferent of successive Assam government since independence towards this mias,incidents like this happening.Media should not use minority community,should use illegal immigrants,using minority word gives disrespect to fellow indian muslims,especially Goria,assamese muslim

Sub:- Bodos / Assames should not compromise on illegal immigrants issue.
Dear Sir
As per reports in prominent national print and electronic media, the gory on-going riots in Bodoland Territorial Administered Districts (BTAD) of Kokrajhar, Baska, Chirang etc. areas of the Indian State of Assam is now turning out to be locals vs migrant settlers issue. The Bodos / Assamese feel they are losing the demographic advantage due to the influx of `illegal’ settlers and might soon turn a minority in their own land. Because Bodos / Assamese think that so far, no political party has applied itself to tackling the issue of illegal immigrants from Bangladesh therefore the Bodos and the people of Assam should immediately move the High Court / Supreme Court as given below:-
(1)- First and foremost the Bodos / Assames should not compromise on illegal immigrants issue. While State and Union Governments are doing their best to control these riots and to maintain law and order in the State and in this exercise the Bodos / Assames should fully co-operate with these Governments, but at the same time the High Court / Supreme Court should be immediately moved by Bodos / Assames against illegal immigrants from Bangladesh.
(2)- There are other States too in India which are suffering from the problem of illegal immigrants from Bangladesh. Therefore it will go a long way in solving the problem of illegal immigrants in Assam if these other effected States are also mobilized by Bodos / Assames to move their High Courts and Supreme Court against illegal immigrants from Bangladesh.
(3)- In these petitions the Courts should be prayed to identify, track and deport these illegal immigrants. For this Courts should also be prayed to direct the Government of India to ask Bangladesh to take these illegal immigrants back.
Imphal: Assam Rifles has been directed by the Gauhati High Court to pay Rs 3.5 Lakhs as compensation to the family of Athkokpam Purnima Singh who died in police custody in September 2001. The petition was moved by Bandana Devi, wife of Athkokpam Purnima Singh. Assam Police has been directed by the Imphal Bench of the High Court to pay the amount in three months.

Guwahati : Army Personel alongwith the Assam Police have apprehended two people including the president of the Darrang district of MASS, and recovered five kgs of RDX, five PTD switches and eight grenades from the Baihata Chariali area in Rangiya on Wednesday evening. The All Assam Students Union (AASU) has withdrawn from the economic blockade of Nagaland that they had taken up jointly with the AJYCP, the All Adivasi Students Union and the Gorkha Association. Tinsukia: There were reports of gunfire along the Assam Arunachal Border in the Sadiya Shantipur area and around 10 people have been injured. The trouble started following a case of physical assault of a local citizen by miscreants of the neighbouring state. The local residents in the Assam side had blocked the surface communication route routinely used by the neighbouring hill tribals while travelling through Assam. The situation is reported to be under control and the injured have been shifted for medical attention.
