As a proactive measure to resurrect the life of the persons who bid good bye to militancy and as an effort to amalgamate them with the mainstream, the Haflong based Assam Riffles setup under the aegis of Dimapur based 3 Corps has initiated a unique rehabilitation programme for the surrendered cadres of various militant outfits. A formal tie-up with Industrial Training Institute (ITI) to impart on the job training to the cadres has been done and the trainees will undergo a three months crash course in six different trades. The training programme will be run under the guidance of 22 Sector Assam Riffles.
The inaugural function held at Assam Riffle premises at Haflong on Thursday was attended by the Chief Executive Member, Dima Hasao Autonomous Council Sri Debojeet Thaosen, along with Chairman, Executive Members besides, Senior Army Officials, representative from district administration and Project Manager of NKC and others.
Speaking on the occasion, CEM, Debojeet Thaosen appreciated the initiatives of the 22 Sector Assam Riffles and hoped they would continue the efforts in future also.
Brigadier Gajinder Singh, Commander, 22 Sector Assam Riffles while appreciating the support from all section people of Dima Hasao to their efforts and hoped this noble step would certainly prove a milestone in establishing and maintaining peace and tranquillity in the district of Dima Hasao.
The initial batch consist of all together 37 cadres from the Kuki Liberation Army (KLA), Hmar Peoples Convention (Democratic) Dima Halam Daogah (Nunisa) and Dima Halam Daogah (Jewel).
In this initial batch starting from July 37 cadres are to undergo training in six trades like Electrician, Welder, Auto mechanic, Electronics, Computer basics and weireman.On completion of this course, the cadres would be evaliutaed by the company officals as per their requirements and provded jobs whereas others would be given assistance by Assam Riffles in seeking jobs in the local market. More such batches would be trained based on success of this pilot projects, it is learnt.
