2nd Biennial conference of Me-Nang-Rai at Tingrai from May 9
The second biennial conference of Me-Nang-Rai will be held on May 9-10 at Tai Cultural Development Centre, Tingrai, Tinsukia district. The organisation was established at " Kodomkakoi" of Lakhimpur district on May 9, 2010 in presence of central members of All Assam Poi-Phuralung for betterment of the Tai-Ahom women.

Mai-Ko-Chum-Phai the traditional religious festival of Tai community of Buddhist religion is observed at Lakuwa Chola pathar Shyam gaon Buddha Vihar of Sivasagar district by the Tai-Khamyang community with day long programme on January 6. This festival is related with the supreme deliverance of lord Buddha. A case of gang rape of a newly married woman is registered at Sonari police station of Sivasagar district . According to police, the victim, a labour of Joboka T.E. was gang raped by six culprits when she returned from work on January 29.
