Hospital on Wheels now in Hojai Sub Division

National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) Assam sanctioned one mobile medical unit (MMU) exclusively for Hojai sub division under the administrative control of Jugijan BPHC. The MMU is formally flagged off by Dr. A.K Dey, minister irrigation & soil conservation, government of Assam on Sunday 22nd April 2012 after addressing a public meeting at Hojai FRU. “MMU is a new initiative of government to bring health care to the doorstep of unnerved rural people of Hojai sub division” said Mr. Dey in his speech. He further said MMU is constituted with 3 movable vehicles, equipped with all basic modern diagnostics facilities which will be a mile stone in reducing maternal & child deaths of the sub division. In his welcome speech Dr. D.K Buragohain Joint Director of Health Services Nagaon informed that under MMU a medical team consists of 2 Medical Officers, 1 Radiographer, 2 Nurses, 1 Laboratory Technician, 1 Pharmacist, 2 Helpers and 3 drivers already appointed will conduct at least 22 medical camps in a month to the far flung areas of the sub division. It is also mentioned that the new launched MMU will carry out services like Curative Care, Reproductive & Child Health Services, Family Planning Services, Diagnostic, specialized facilities & services, emergency services & care in times of any disaster. Especial provision for creating mass awareness in disease prevalent areas about health & hygiene, proper nutrition and counselling on Family Planning, RTI/STI etc are made added Joint Director of health.
