KSO condemns police atrocities

The Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO), Songpijang Unit strongly condemned the beaten up of one College Student Shri. Khupgouhen Hengna, s/o Late Ralzothang Hengna (R.Kuki Retired ABI) of Songpijang village, by some policemen (PSO) at UBI ATM Counter, Haflong on Saturday 6:30pm stated a press release issued by KSO. In the incident, the Policemen mercilessly knocked, punched and hit him on his head, stomach and body just when he came out of the ATM counter. He was found seriously injured as such he was taken him to Haflong Police Station, from where admitted him to Haflong Civil Hospital for medical treatment later and is still there.

As per the statement given by the injured person, there were many persons making queue in the ATM Counter, all trying to get first. Meanwhile, some Policemen came, forcibly tried to get cash first. Thus, there was confusion and too much rush among all. He got the cash and came out. Then, one of the Policemen hit him in his stomach with his Rifle. Then punch and knock him. His colleagues joined him. He became semi-unconscious and could no more notice all the persons, whether two or more who hit him. As per his statement, it is an attempt to murder as one of the culprits even loaded his rifle to shoot at him. However, he became safe from murder as the place being an open, main road site with people.

They therefore, urged the District Administration, Law & Order department and Police Administration to book the culprit and give due punishment to the culprit immediately so that justice be had and prevent recurrence of such incident in future. We also demand for providing due compensation for medical treatment and restoration of normal health. Lest, we would lunch agitation programme within a few days if found neglecting the case by the concern authorities.
