Arsenic treatment plant at Nazira

Arsenic which is formed in heavy quality in the ground level water of Sivasagar and Nazira makes the people worry. Now the Govt. is trying to create awareness among the people and take some preventive measures.

Under the guidelines of ‘National Rural Drinking water quality monitoring and survillance programme the Public Health and Enginerring Department of Sivasagar and Nazira is conducting a few awareness camps in different places.

At Santak and Bihubor where two water project were sealed by the PHED Nazira for presence of heavy quantity of arsenic. Govt. is now planning to setup a arsenic -tretment plant there.

Newly appointed Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president, Gourav Gogoi, was felicitated at Nazira on May 31st. Renowned journalist, writer, former President of the Sivasagar District Xahitya Xobha, President of the Nazira District Journalist Association, and former professor of Gargaon College, Durlove Buragohain, passed away today around 3 PM.
