Ali-ai-Ligang is celebrated in Sivasagar district
Ali Ai Ligang the vibrant agricultural festival of Mishing tribes of Assam is celebrated in many places of Sivasagar district on Wednesday. The Sivasagar Bangke-Mishing-Dirbi-Kebang and Ali-ai-Ligang celebration committee observed the festival at Taxi Ali, near Sivasagar town. Along with the rituals, Anunitom and Oinitom competition were held. The open session was presided by Lalit Kumar Kuli, in which Nahendra Padun attended as asserted speaker. In this meeting newly elected president and executive member of All India SC/ST employees welfare association of ONGC was felicitated. In Nazira Sub-division the festival was celebrated in Santak Bor-Mishing gaon and Hatipoti Mishing gaon with day long programs.

Jhajimukh Festival will be held on February 18-19. MLA from Teok constituency of Jorhat district and President of the Organising Commitee Membor Gogoi has laid the foundation stote of the pandal on Sunday. On yesterday evening, at Laxmijan stone quarry under Nazira police station of Sivasagar district, Urmila Khatun (29) and her three years son Mejajin Ali died on spot in a stone quarry mishap under 6no quarry of his Mahadev Kurmi is the contractor. The accident occurred due to the falling of heap of stone on the workers. The seriously injured husband Giasuddin Ali and elder son Giasuddin Ahmed admitted at hospital.
