Guwahati school ranks 25th top school of the country


The Cambridge School, Guwahati has been ranked the 25th top most school of the country in a nationwide assessment based on benchmarks like academic activities & performance, co-curricular activities, school environment, parental involvement, faculty quality, infrastructure & facilities and so on. Dr. Pulak Bhattacharyya, the Principal of the School disclosed this while delivering his speech on the occasion of Annual Day of the school on Thursday. He attributed this achievement to the collective effort and hard work put in by every member of ‘The Cambridge School, Guwahati’ family. He said that it was a matter of pride for the school to find a place among the most reputed educational institutions of the country like The Doon School, Mayo College of Girls, Ajmer, DPS R.K.Puram, New Delhi, etc. within just two years of functioning.


Synchrony 2012, the second Annual Day celebrations of ‘The Cambridge School, Guwahati’-- the first and the only international school of North East India- was held with much fun fare at the school premises on the 2nd February last. The celebrations began with the Prize Distribution ceremony where students excelling in the various co-curricular activities over the last academic year were awarded medals, trophies and certificates. This was followed by a spectacular presentation of cultural items by students and teachers of the school. In spite of being an international school affiliated to the University of Cambridge [UK], with foreign students on its rolls, the school authorities ensured that the cultural show contained a colourful variety of Indian classical, modern and Western styles. The assortment included amidst others, a dance adaptation of a Borgeet, a fusion of Sattriya, Bharat Natyam, Kathak and western dance forms, a mime show on the menace of mobile phones, shadow dance, orchestra, chorus, locomotion dance, drama, a fashion show for kids, and a dance adapted to Bhupendra Sangeet.


Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest, Mr. Nilamani Sen Deka, Honourable Minister of Agriculture, Horticulture, Food Processing & Parliamentary Affairs, Govt.of Assam, lauded the successful efforts of the school in introducing quality international education in the state. Dr. O.K. Medhi, Vice Chancellor, Gauhati University and Abdul Khaleque, Press Secretary to the Chief Minister, Assam were the Guests of Honour. Dr.Medhi asserted that the Cambridge qualifications offered by the school were accepted by the Gauhati University, at par with CBSE, ICSE, SEBA and AHSEC qualifications. Khaleque highly appreciated the efforts of the school in preserving the local language, culture and traditions. He expressed his happiness that a school of this stature had started functioning in Assam. Other notable speakers on the occasion included Prof.Nirmal Choudhury, former Vice Chancellor of Gauhati University and a member of the Advisory Body of the School; S.C. Mukerjee, Director, ‘The Cambridge School, Calcutta’ and Rakesh Kongjengbam, School Development Manager, University of Cambridge International Examinations. The Vote of Thanks was offered by Mr.Narayan Deka, Director of the school.
