Punaram Mili elected president of ONGC All India Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste welfare Association
Punaram Mili, an employee of Assam Asset, is the first Assamese, who elected as president of All India Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Tribe welfare Association. He was selected from the 22 basin or Asset of ONGC, situated at different locations of our country. In this fight, Mili has defeated N.V. Bakhava of Gujrat with lager margins. Assam Jatiyo Prakash, Jorhat has published the Anglo-Assamese-Nagamese-Singpho version of Miles Bronson dictionary at Jorhat. Miles Bronson was a linguist worked with Jaduram Deka and Nathan Brown for Assamese language during 19th century. This dictionary covers 3200 words, 800 from each language and is edited by Debobrata Sarma. Many lessons in Nagamese and Singpho languages are also included in this dictionary.
Miles Bronson came to Assam to work for the American Baptist Missionaries and the helmsman for Assamese language died in 9th November, 1883. His 2000 pages documents were discovered by his grand-daughter Grace Bilad.

Wild tuskers and female elephants are creating terror among the public in the border areas of Gelekey, Sivasagar district. These wild elephants destroy the premises and store-houses of the people of that area. The houses and compounds of Phanidhar Tanti, Tinku Tanti, Suja Kurm, Bimal Rajput and Santosh Tanti of Athkhel Tea Estate is badly damaged by these wild elephants.
This is a good news for our state. The gas based Lakwa thermal power station under Assam power generation corporation Ltd, located at Maibella of Sivasagar district has now improved its generation capacity. With improvement of gas supply position the production of the this power station is improved. This station will produce 37.5 MW more with installation of waste heat turbine, which also minimise the production cost .
The supply of gas to the station is stream lined . Station purchase the its gas from GAIL. Hope, with this improvement in power generation, the people of Assam will get some relief from the power crisis.
Veteran actor, director Bipin Dutta of Kalugaon, Sivasagar, died at a nursing home in Dibrugarh on Wednesday. he was 72. Starting his carrier as an actor late Dutta earned a good reputation in the cultural field of our state. He was associated with many cultural and social organisations. Kalyan Arandhara, Assistant General Secretary, of Sivasagar district and Manash Bharali, Adviser, Janji regional unit died in a tragic road accident on National Highway 37 at Janji-Phulpanisiga.
Arandhara's was acompanied by Manash Bharali in the bike (AS04-H-5341) which was hit by mini bus (AS03-H-6827) from behind on his way from Sivasagar to Sepon. When they fell down, another vehicle coming from opposite direction, lost its controll and hit them. Later the mini bus was detained by Jorhat police and arrested the driver.
