Conference of Sivasagar Academic Council concluded
The 27th conference of “Sivasagar district Academic Council” from January 18-19 was held at Ghilaguri High School, Khaloighugura, concluded successfully. In the open session the souvenir, “Ghilaguri” was released by Prabin Kimar Sarma, Inspector of School, Sivasagar and president of the Sivasagar District Academic Council. He also presided the open session. Sarat Saikia, MLA, Mahmora, Prabin Borgohain, retired Headmaster of Nazira-Mothiasiga-Rajmao High school, Pabitrapran Bhattacharya, Tulan Bezbarua and Atul Baruawas present as special guest. Md Naser Sultan, General Secretary, Assam state Academic Council was present as invited guest. Dr. Girin Phukon, retired Professor of Dibrugarh University also attended as speaker.

Dead body of 18-year-old youth, Abhijit Kalita of Namti-Misajan recovered under suspicious condition from the rented house of Makhan Borah of B.G. road Sivasagar, near the ONGC colony on January 18. The dead body was found hanging on the varanda of the rented house. Abhijit was a driver in the contractual vehicles plying on ONGC duty.
Dedicated follower of vaishnovite culture and retired teacher Minakanta Dutta of Panibil-Gumutha, near Nazira passed away at an age of 93. The proverb, “Third time lucky” is completely proved in a dangerous road accident today near the Simoluguri police station, of Sivasagar district. The bike rider's life is saved fortunately. The accident is occuered at about 2 p.m, on Tuesday - a Honda CR100 motor cycle (AS-04-E-4440) entered near the back wheels of the Sivasagar-Sonari bound 709 mini bus (AS-04-B-3438). the bike is badly damaged. Police have taken this lucky man to hospital but his name is unknown till sending this news.
