TET begins across for teacher recruitment

Altogether three lakh fifty six thouand and nine hundred fourteen candidates are appearing in the teachers eligibility test in the state on Tuesday. Being jointly organized by the Board of Secndary Education, Assam and the Assam government, the test is being cnducted in alogether seven hundred and wenty eight cnetres across the state. Education Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the result would be announcd on January twenty fifth. The state is holding TET for the first time to recruit teachers in the various lower primary and upper primary schools.

Security alert: NF Railway cancels 11 trains

Apprehending ULFA strike in the run up to Prime Minister’s visit, the Northeast Frontier Railway has cancelled eleven trains and rescheduled four others from Wednedsay.


According to NF Railway, the trains will remain cancelled till April 20 and these include UP and DN Kolongpar passenger running betwen Guwahati and Moirabari,


UP and DN Guwahati-Silghat town passenger, UP and DN Chaparmukh-Silghat town passenger, UP and DN Tinsukia-Lumding passenger, Simaluguri-Dibrugarh-Simaluguri passenger, Tinsukia-Dangri passenger, Mariani-Jorhat-Mariani passenger and Kamakhya-Dhubri passenger.


The DN Ledo-Guwahati-Kamakhya Intercity Express scheduled to leave New Tinsukia at 1700 hrs has been rescheduled to leave New Tinsukia at 2015 hrs on April 18 and 19 and at 1910 hrs on April 20.


Ajmal takes dig at Congress

An upbeat AIUDF again slammed Congress saying that the ruling party had to heavy price of rampant corruption and misgovernance in the assembly polls.

Talking to reporters after the formal announcement of the by poll results in Jamunamukh, AIUDF president Badaruddin Ajmal said that more murky days await the ruling party.

 “It the price of rampant corruption and misgovernance of the Tarun Gogoi government,” said Ajmal.  

Notably, his party retained Jamunamukh while got second position in Silchar and Lakhipur.  

New bio-fertilizer plant in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Good news for the north region on its agriculture front. Nova Biotech opened its organic bio-fertilizer plant recently in Guwahati fetching hopes to millions of farmers in the region. Noted social worker Ridhkaran Surana opened the plant at a function near Lokhra in the city on Friday.

In his address, agriculture commissioner and secretary Amlan Baruah said that Nova Biotech had come forward to join hands with the State governments for encouraging organic farming in the region. The plant is expected to provide bio-fertilizers, bio-pesticides and organic nutrients to the farmers. Experts and farmers hope that the plant would go a long way to enhance crop productivity and augmenting the income. The venture has been set up in sync with the Government of India's Start-up, Stand-up and Make in India initiatives.
