It is indeed a good news to all cine lovers that controversial film Dam999 has been shortlisted for the Oscar under the Best Picture category. But the special news is that our very own National Award Winner sound engineer Debajit Changmai has done the mixing for the film. When contacted he couldn’t hide his excitement and asserts "I am happy to learn the news". Debojit Changmai who was completely tied up with the mixing of Don 2, is taking a breath of relief now.
While being asked about Dam 999 the humble mixing engineer speaks up: "I was very excited to work on this film and put my best efforts. It was August 2011 when I was doing the mixing for Dam999 in my studio ‘Sound City’ in Veera Desai, Andheri W and was expecting a good result as we did the Mixing as per the international standard."
Dam 99 is produced by Biz TV Network, UAE and directed by Sohan Roy. The film is based on the award winning short documentary DAMS - ‘The Lethal Water Bombs’, and the Bangio Dam disaster of 1975 that claimed the lives of 250,000 people in China. Apart from being a controversial movie in India with respect to its theme, the screenplay of the movie was added to the permanent core collection in Library of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences before its release in 2011. Dam999 is an English film that features Indian actors Rajit Kapur, Vimala Raman, Vinai Rai and Ashish Vidhyarthi. It has been dubbed in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam. It has made it to the Oscar shortlist as a Hollywood film.
Debajit is also happy with result of Don 2 as he has put his best efforts to make it at par with the International Standard. Let’ cheer the young and energetic Mixing Engineer of Assam and hope to see good work from him in near future always.
