Road Blockade on NH 37 in Nagaon

Road blockade was staged today afternoon on NH37 near Haibargaon police station by the Truck Owners Association of Nagaon in protest of the release of the two FCI officials by the police.The two officials of FCI godown at senchowa were detained yesterday for questioning for alleged financial irregularities by the police at haibargaon police station.The dua were however let off by the police late last night. The protestors were demanding action against the two FCI officials on the basis of complaint lodged by Nagaon Truck Owners Association with the police.

The situation was brought under control by the Nagaon administration and assurance of following legal procedure in the case was given to the protestors by the authorities after which the road blockade was removed.

One Powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was recoverd on Saturday night in Raha. Police acting on a tip off recovered the IED from a bicycle which was kept under a bridge.Nagaon  Superintend of Police Vivek Raj Singh said  that  the police received a tip off that a ladies bicycle was seen  abandoned under a bridge with a suspicious object, the police recated swiftly and recovered the IED and diffused late last night, he further said that the security apparatus has been tightened in the district, specially in the areas bordering karbianglong owing to the run up to the Independence Day and ongoing protests in  other parts of the state.

4 persons were reportedly burnt alive in a head on collision between a Bus and a trailor on NH 37 , Bosapathar village in Kaziranga under Golaghat District at 4: 30 Am today. The Bus was traveling from Tinsukia in Upper Assam to Guwahati and the trailor was traveling from Guwahati to Jorhat .
