Financial Literacy Credit Counseling (FLCC) camp


To interact with the villagers and counsel them for opening bank account, a Financial Literacy & Credit Counseling (FLCC) camp was held recently at the Thaizuary village, 75 KM from Haflong in Dima hasao district.


The Banking Services in the country since the last decade has undergone a sea change. Various tailor made deposit scheme have been formulated keeping in view the vast strata of customers in the country. But still millions of people are living outside the purview of banking services. Govt. of India has emphasized that 100% financial inclusion is require to be made, so that not a single person is left from the banking services. Reserve Bank of India, to this direction has advised all the nationalized banks to initiate efforts to set up camp in unbanked villages especially villages where population is 1000 to 2000.


The camp was conducted by Shri M.K. Biswas, Chief Manager (Lead Bank) of Dima Hasao district and was attended by inter-alia Sarvashri Prakash Ranjan Das, Headmaster, Narsingwari M.E. School, Gautam Choudhury, Asstt. Teacher, Binanjoy Kr. Nunisa, Headman of Vill. Upper Thaijuwari, Sushnata Mazumdar and Rashbehari Roy from Bank side. Altogether 51 villagers from the nearby villages attended the camp and the response was spontaneous.


The Chief Manager(Lead Bank) discussed the benefit of opening account and obtain Bank loan for their various agricultural activities. He had also requested the Bank branches to extend their full co-operation with the villagers. Shri Biswas also informed that similar camp will also be held in other parts of the district. At the end of the meeting the Chief Manager(Lead Bank) had expressed his deep gratitude to the School authorities and the Headman of the villages for extending all out co-operation in conducting the camp.
