Friends looking for writers

To succeed in this competitive global environment, every student needs to have high motivation, ambition and perseverance to face the various challenges that they face. To do so, they require lot of positive attitude and inspiration from peers. Parents in this age are looking for resources, books and journals that would inspire their children to have ambition and a global outlook to excel in their chosen field of study.


The magazine Friends is a sincere effort by the Non residents of Assam towards the upliftment of the Students and youths of the North East India. It contains articles on career guidance, education, travel and tourism, volunteering and Social entrepreneurism. Chief Editor Mr. Ankur Bora from Dallas, Texas, USA sincerely desires that students and the youth of the North East India will benefit from this journal as the motto of this journal is –To inform, to inspire and to instill. It is also expected that the parents will gift this magazine to their children as a valuable resource for career development and for their future personal and professional growth.

Probably, for the first time in recent history, a mandarin duck has been spoted near the Dibru-Saikhowa National Park in Assam. Eminent poet and novelist Dr. Neelakshi Chaliha Gogoi informed that the migratory bird has been sighted in the Maguri-Motapung beel situated near the park. “I think the bird has come here due to his mistake. In a heartening news, the Assamese documentary film on the country’s first female commando unit ­– ‘Veerangana’, was adjudged the Best Documentary at the Cochin International Short Film Awards, 2021. In a setback for the Raijor Dal and its supporters, Supreme Court of India has rejected the bail plea of Akhil Gogoi, on Thursday. The KMSS leader and the president of the Raijor Dal moved the SC challenging the reject order passed by the Guwahati High Court. Hearing the plea earlier today, a three-judge bench of the SC comprising of Justice NV Ramana, Justice Surya Kant and Justice Aniruddha Bose denied bail to the activist. While rejecting the plea the bench observed that granting bail to Gogoi would not be possible at this state. The SC ordered the petitioner to file an application. In a horrific incident, a 40-year old man was lynched in a village of Karbi-Anglong on Sunday night. As per reports, a mob of some villagers brutally assulted a man to death. The victim was identified as Monsing Rongpi. He was a resident of  the Karashi Bey village under the Bakalia police station. The mob first took him to a football field where they tied him to a goalpost before beating him mercilessly. Due to the assult, Rongpi died at the spot, reports said. Guwahati: Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman launched distribution of Rs 240 crore to over 7 lakh tea garden workers at a function in Guwahati on Saturday. All these tea garden workers would get Rs 3,000 each  in their bank accounts.   In his address state finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the government was in the process of revising the daily wage amount for the tea garden workers very soon.
