Friends looking for writers

To succeed in this competitive global environment, every student needs to have high motivation, ambition and perseverance to face the various challenges that they face. To do so, they require lot of positive attitude and inspiration from peers. Parents in this age are looking for resources, books and journals that would inspire their children to have ambition and a global outlook to excel in their chosen field of study.


The magazine Friends is a sincere effort by the Non residents of Assam towards the upliftment of the Students and youths of the North East India. It contains articles on career guidance, education, travel and tourism, volunteering and Social entrepreneurism. Chief Editor Mr. Ankur Bora from Dallas, Texas, USA sincerely desires that students and the youth of the North East India will benefit from this journal as the motto of this journal is –To inform, to inspire and to instill. It is also expected that the parents will gift this magazine to their children as a valuable resource for career development and for their future personal and professional growth.

GUWAHATI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a visit to Guwahati on Saturday to open the global investment summit in the premier north eastern city. Modi is scheduled to arrive in Guwahati by 10 in the morning to be received by governor Jagdish Mukhi and chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal at the airport. Then the prime minister would straightly leave for the Sarusajai Stadium where he would open the two days event with much fanfare and cultural extravaganza. KOHIMA: Nagaland Congress and NPF have said they would contest the upcoming assembly polls if BJP does it. Talking to www.assamtimes.org in Kohima, senior Congress leaders said that since BJP is all set to defy the consensus in the recent all party meeting then boycotting polls on February 27 does not make any sense. RAJESH MANDAL DHEKIAJULI: More than 10,000 people spilled to the road in Dhekiajuli on Friday demanding capital punishment of the 5 miscreants who gangraped a Class X girl last month. Jointly Organized by ATTSA, AASU, AJYCP along with many other local organizations, the protest blocked a huge portion of the vital road for nearly three hours. UDALGURI: Thousands of people in Udalguri seem to have heaved a sigh of relief when Mazbat MLA,Charan Boro launched the Chief Minister's Free Diagnostic Services Programme in Orang CHC at a function on Thursday. The hospital received a laboratory which Boro called a bold initiative by the government to help the poor. KOHIMA:No poll candidates in Nagaland has so far filed nomination papers even two days after the Election Commission issues notification for the February 27 assembly polls. The state election office on Thursday confirmed that no candidate has turned up to file nomination paper and the returning officers stationed at the district and sub divisional headquarters have been remaining prepared to receive the papers till February 27.   Ten major parties have already agreed at a joint declaration not to field any candidate.
