BPFPR reacts sharply to the BPF statement

The Bodo People’s Forum for Peace and Rights (BPFPR) in a press release issued today reacted sharply to a press statement of BPF issued in a section of press dated July 29 which said that the Bodo National Conference was not formed with the objective of creating a separate Boroland state within the framework of Indian constitution.

Terming the Bodo National Conference (BNC) as ‘so called’ the BPFPR press communiqué issued by Bipul Daimari, president of the organization maintained that it was indeed an outcome of a convention held on November 18th and 19th in 2010 at Kokrajhar where the representatives of more than 40 Bodo organizations gathered together to discuss the pros and cons of resolving the long pending social and political problems of the Bodo People. All the representatives of different Bodo organizations insisted that the creation of Bodoland state should be the ultimate goal of Bodo National Conference and accordingly, the BNC was supposed to act upon the people’s wishes and aspirations. But what a surprise! Within a short time, it was reduced to dust and it turned out to be the mere political tools in their hands for their selfish political motives which were candidly displayed in the last State Assembly Elections.

That is the reason why, some major components like NDFB (P), UDPF and some other Boro organizations outside the BTAD have kept themselves presently detached after losing faith in it, the press release observed. “Moreover, ever since the time of its formation, All Bodo Students’ Union and BPPF had kept themselves aside doubting over the sincerity of BPF and its allied leadership with regard to the national political issue of the Boro people. The Boro People’s Forum for peace and Rights has also been compelled to reconsider its stand over the question of the credibility of leadership of Bodo National Conference since the BNC has drifted away from its main goal of creating a separate Boroland state within the framework of Indian Constitution,” the BPFPR press release added. The Bodo People’s Forum for Peace and Rights therefore appealed to the BNC leadership not to play the dirty politics in the name of peace and unification over the tens of thousands of Bodo people. The BNC devoid of its main goal is meaningless, the press release concluded.
