Dispur police steps into arrest KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi in connection with the Dispur clash that left 3 killed and over 30 injured. Dispur police station alone has registered altogether 8 cases against Gogoi and KMSS president Kamal Medhi charging them with damaging properties worth Rs 1.50 crore. Dispur police officer in charge Manik Kalita has lodged the 4 complaints against Gogoi while ASTC also filed 3 FIRs alleging that Gogoi and his organization has damaged 3 buses on Wednesday. Gogoi is likely to be arrested at any time. Several police officers including senior superintendent of police Dipak Chaudhury, DSP Longnit Teron have been injured in the clash.

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has tabled a Rs 2189.23 crore crore deficit state budget on the floor of the House on Monday pledging to make Assam a healthy and wealthy state. In his speech, Mr Gogoi, who also holds the finance portfolio said the state has been making progress on several fronts. As many as six people have been left injured in upper Assam's Dibrugrah town when the suspected ULFA militants exploded a powerful hand grenade on Saturday evening.
