Blood donation initiative by Darwin School of Business

A blood donation camp was organised under the campaign ‘Guwahati Blood Donation Initiative’ by Darwin School of Business, Guwahati on June 12 in association with Guwahati Medical College and Hospital. This noble cause was supported by the Red Horn Troops Indian Army based at Assam of the. Colonel S. Poggat the Defence PRO successfully initiated the participation of the army. The total number donors were 93. Dr. Saikia, of Guwahati Medical College and Hospital said that this is one of the biggest turnout in Guwahati in a single day.

The first donor was Pallavi Duara, an MBA final semester student. This is for the sixth consecutive time that Darwin School of Business has organised the Blood donation camp as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility. The students of Darwin School of Business handled the show with utmost professionalism under the guidance of Prof. B. Bhattacharya. The Forest department of Guwahati came forward and donated sapling to each donor. Dr. S. Singh and P P Changkakoti, IFS of the Forest Department ensured that as responsible citizens we all must care for the environment. Pepsico, Guwahati had sponsored the fruit drink.

Prof. Bhattacharya had said, “the aim of this initiative is to make the people of Guwahati aware of the importance of donating blood. He says that this initiative started when the students who were working on a social project found that its very difficult for people from the rural areas of Assam who come to Guwahati for treatment finds it very difficult to get blood even when they are ready to pay for it. We here want to say to everyone that Guwahati too has a heart”. The Dean, Dr. T K Bharali said, “he was very enthusiastic to see such a huge participation especially from young citizens of Guwahati and the support from the Indian Army was very motivating”.

The Red Horn Troops based at Assam once again showed us that Indian Army is for the people, of the people and by the people. Seeing such a wonderful response, the next blood donation camp will be organised in the month of November. Interested donors may email at info@darwin school.com for further information.
