Now Pension for Farmers Demanded By Agri Officers

Pensions are very common for Artists, Writers, Sports Personals etc. apart from government servant at their retirement age. But pension for farmers is a distant dream in Assam. But good news will come soon! Assam Agricultural Officers Association (AAOA) has demanded for introduction of farmers’ Pension above 60 years old in Assam. They said, this will encourage the rural mass towards agricultural farming/ activities. In this connection, a delegate team of AAOA, led by Dr. Debabrata Borgohain and Kailash Barman, President and Secretary of AAOA respectively, met Assam Agriculture Minister Nilomani Sen Deka yesterday at Dispur and had discussed the issue. They also highlighted the various key issues of Agri-Horticulture Sector of Assam in the discussion with the Minister. A vibrant Agricultural Policy of Assam, Strengthening ogf departmental farms/ progeny orchards for production of planting materials/ seeds, more incentives for the certified seed growers, Area expansion by hybrid seeds from 2.4% to 10%, Proper co-ordination amongst the Departments like Agriculture, Irrigation and Power, Fruit Processing, Marketing of Agricultural produces, Organic Farming are the key agenda made by AAOA in their discussion. The AAOA also appraises the Minster about the administrative issues related to the Agriculture Department. Amrit Dewri, Director of Agriculture, Assam also present in the discussion. The Minister of Agriculture listens to the delegate very patently and assured that he will do all needful action promptly.
