Assam swimming coach to train in USA

Rajib Dey, empanelled coach of Assam Swimming Association, is being invitation to Salo Swim Camp organised by the University of Southern California USA, from June 12 to July 1, where he will work and train under two-times Olympic Coach of USA David Salo. The participation of Rajib dey is expected to enhance his capacity as a swimming trainer.

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi stressed expedited process of sustainable development in Karbi Anglong district when he interacted with the autonomous body members in Diphu on Monday.  Gandhi further took stock of the development initiatives by the council in the interaction in presence of chief minister Tarun Gogoi and AICC general secretary Dr CP Joshi.Then he left for Guwahati to address a huge rally in Khanapara.Earlier, he arrived in Diphu by a helicopter and met the Congress men in the hills state.

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi has left for Diphu to meet the Congress men in the hills state.Accompanied by chief minister Tarun Gogoi, Gandhi is scheduled to hold talks with senior party leaders along with a group of youths in the hills district amid 12 hour Karbi Anglong bandh.At around 10 in the morning, Gandhi landed at the Borjhar Airport and was received by Tarun Gogoi along with Bhubneswar Kalita and Avinash Pandey.Then he straightly left for Diphu by a helicopter.
A massive security is in place in Sarusajai on Tuesday in view of Rahul Gandhi’s two days visit.After attending the rally in Khanapara, Gandhi is scheduled to interact with veteran personalities and senior citizens and journalist at around 4 in the afternoon.Towards the evening the Congress vice president is scheduled to attend the party’s executive body meeting.    
Despite an orgy of untoward incidents across the state, thousands of people thronged Veterinary College playgreound in Khanapara to attend Rahul Gandhi’s youth and women empowerment rally on Monday.Congrssmen from all districts of the state have reached the city to attend the huge rally.A section of the Congress activists told Assam Times that they have come across many hurdles in the form of road blockade to reach the rally.Some others said that they were provided security to arrive in Guwahati to attend the rally at 1 in the afternoon.

Roads in Guwahati city are not wearing a normal look on Tuesday following 12 hour bandh called by KMSS in protest against Pramod Boro’s death after self immolation attempt.Bandh supporters in several places are trying to disrupt normal movement of traffic by burning tyres on the streets.Bandh supporters in Jorabat area burnt down a truck before staging a road blockade which lasted for two hours.  Police have already detained at least 20 bandh supporters for disrupting normalcy in the city.
Bandhs and road blockades seem to have greeted Rahul Gandhi on his two days visit to Assam from Tuesday.Several organizations have enforced bandhs across the state raising their long standing demands posing threat to the success of a series of meetings and road shows lined up during the Congress vice president’s visit.
AGP-BJP pre poll prospect hits a major road block. The regional party has almost finalized the deal.The central BJP leaders are not averse to the idea. Then what forced the party to halt? State BJP unit is not happy at the prospect of poll alliance with AGP.  Reliable BJP sources told Assam Times that they are united against a pre poll tie up with the regional party which mires in a number of crisis.If need be, a BJP delegation is all prepared to leave for Delhi to convince the central leaders of the futility of the alliance.
At least eight persons sustained serious injuries when suspected NDFB-S militants exploded two powerful grenades at a market in Kamrup district on Monday.The grenades exploded at 6-30 in the evening at Gasbari near Goreswar when two motorcycle born youths lobbed the grenades---one at a fish market and another at a shop nearby.Eight people have been injured. Two of them sustained serious injuries to be shifted to the GMCH.Police called it a handiwork of NDFB-S which has been unleashing terror these days despite tight security in some pockets.Security forces are fanning in the entire area in search of the culprits.
