EMFA Television Media award on May 28

he Electronic Media Forum Assam has organized the first EMFA Television Media Awards 2010 on May 28 (Saturday). The function will start at 6 pm in the Gauhati Town Club auditorium. Snehasis Sur, senior television journalist and former Kolkata Press Club secretary will grace the function as a special guest.


A host of distinguished personalities, editors, senior journalists, media employees will attend the program.


Over ten awards including best reporting, best news-program on environment and development issues, best camera person, best video editing, best graphics etc will be offered to the deserving television journalist-crew members. Each award consists of a memento and cash prize of Rs 10,000/-. The function will be concluded with a cultural show where journalist-media employees would perform various programmes.

The Burma Centre Delhi and the Journalists’ Forum, Assam have jointly organized a consultation meeting on the proposed general election in Burma (Myanmar) with a focus on its probable implication in Northeast India. Guwahati Press Club has announced a short term media fellowship to study and document the indigenous sports of Assam (primarily from Brahmaputra valley). The selected fellow will try to gather information about the traditional sports, mostly its rules & regulations and also a probable picture, with an aim to get it published in a book form later. The fellowship has been sponsored by Gopal Jalan in his father Basudev Jalan’s memory. The interested media persons (preferably members of Guwahati Press Club) are requested to apply for the same on or before January 20 to the Secretary, Guwahati Press Club with a formal application with his/her bio-data.
Guwahati Press Club in association with the Sun Valley Diabetic Care and Research Center, Guwahati has organized a health check up camp for media persons on December 31 next (Thursday). The camp, to be held at the press club premises, will start at 10 am (and continue till 2 pm).
