PMGSY road in Dudhnoi

The state of implementation of PMGSY in Goalpara district is very poor, particularly in and around Dudhnoi. Earthen roads are seen in most of the cases, which become muddy even in a single rain. The photo shows a road constructed under PMGSY in 2010.

The GDP of the Indian sub-continent will touch points like 9, 10, 11…., due to FDI. But, places like we live in will always bear he tag ‘developing' because of the insincere human resource. Good roads and strong bridges reflect honesty, minimal corruption…road condition is the report card of a people, of a system.

The nodal department i.e., the PWD (Roads) has been putting up a good effort against many odds prevailing. I have seen many roads under construction. The progree is slow but the overall quality has been good

Ex MLAs son - Asst Manger in Tea Estate abducted

Guwahati : Unidentified militants abducted Mr. Anirudha Tanti from Hirajuli Tea Estate last night. Anirudha is the son of Ex MLA and senior congress leader Bhimananda Tanti. He is an Assistant Manager of the Tea Estate. Anirudha was on the way to his official quarter, when he was abducted. Family member filed an FIR about his abduction this evening. Data on Floods in Assam: Nearly half a crore/ five million displaced in Assam

Guwahati: Nearly half a crore/five million people were displaced in devastating flood in Assam. According to 2001 census, the total population of Assam is 2, 66, 38, 407 and floods have displaced about one fifth of the total population. Total 24 districts out of 27 have been hit by outpouring and 3967 villages ravaged, says the Assam Government in an official communiqué. Elderly lady floated into waters after death as there was no space to cremate due to floods

Barpeta: Tragic stories have started pouring in from various parts of the State as floods in Assam continue unabated for the umpteenth day today.
