ThaneswarHazarika, of the Bokakhat Town and the local correspondent of The Sentinel newspaperdied on Saturday at his residence following prolonged illness. Born in Majuli, Hazarika was 64 at the time of his demise.
Notededucationist, Hazarika retired as the principal-in-charge of JDSG college, Bokakhat. He was associated with various newspapers of Assam including The Assam Tribune, Dainik Asom, The Sentinel, The Eastern Clarion, Natun Dainik etc. He was serving as the president of Bokakhat Press Club at the time of his demise.
Highly admired by the people of Bokakhat, Hazarika leaves behind his wife, two daughters and a son, besides a host of relatives.

The duo died after attending the recent rally in Guwahati. Immediately after landing at the Dibrugarh Airport on Saturday morning, Modi met the two family members and shared their worries.Modi told the two family members that he would rehabilitate them at his own initiatives as soon as he becomes the prime minister.Hazarika died after falling from a moving train while Gogoi was found dead under mysterious circumstances on the river Brahmaputra in Guwahati.
The Assam Government is seriously considering formation of ten more districts citing stress on congenial governance.The move to form these new districts and over 30 sub divisions started when the group of ministers set up to deal with the proposal met in Dispur on Friday.The meeting discussed the criterion for formation of the new districts. If things move on right direction, the state is set to get these new districts before the Assembly polls.

Three mysterious explosions struck panic in Chandmari areas in Guwahati on Friday evening.The explosions took place at the irrigation colony in the city at around 8 in the evening spreading panic among the local residents.Eyewitnesses told Assam Times that they came to hear the sounds of three explosions with 30 minutes. Then they came to see fire sparks and smokes from three drains inside the colony.There is no casualty in the explosions. But a section of the panic stricken people in the colony think it an attempt to blow up the colony buildings.
