ThaneswarHazarika, of the Bokakhat Town and the local correspondent of The Sentinel newspaperdied on Saturday at his residence following prolonged illness. Born in Majuli, Hazarika was 64 at the time of his demise.
Notededucationist, Hazarika retired as the principal-in-charge of JDSG college, Bokakhat. He was associated with various newspapers of Assam including The Assam Tribune, Dainik Asom, The Sentinel, The Eastern Clarion, Natun Dainik etc. He was serving as the president of Bokakhat Press Club at the time of his demise.
Highly admired by the people of Bokakhat, Hazarika leaves behind his wife, two daughters and a son, besides a host of relatives.

Tezpur Congress candidate Bhupen Bora on Thursday dared NDFB-S to bid farewell to arms as the people in large number defied their bandh call in Tezpur.Talking to reporters in Biswanath Chariali, Bora said that defying the 12 bandh call, the Congress workers are pouring in to attend Rahul Gandhi’s poll rally.“The rally is going to a huge one. A minor boy sustained serious injury at an incident of cross fire between KPLT militants and security forces in Karbi Anglong district on Wednesday.The incident took place in the evening at Borbeel area near Howraghat when an army troop was locked in an encounter with KPLT militants.A minor boy sustained serious injury in the two hour long cross firing from both sides.
