United Minority Liberation Army (UMLA) leader talks to the press

Commalder Khaling of United Minority Liberation Army (UMLA) recently talks to Indian Unheard. In this exclusive interview, the UMLA leader tells on camera his outfit’s goals, visions and strategies. The UMLA is one of the 17 armed member groups of the Kuki National Organization – an umbrella organization leading an armed struggle against Manipur government for a separate state within the Indian constitution. 


The UMLA, alongside other Kuki militant groups, has recently signed a tripartite suspension of armed operations with the state government and the Centre. The militants are now pressing for a political dialogue with New Delhi over its demand for the statehood. Khaling is regarded as a critical force for making the talks a success.

The Early Birds, an organization for animal care recently conducted a free veterinary vaccination cum treatment camp around the Pobitora Wild Life sanctuary on 27th and 28th Oct'07. HSD deal waiting green signal

The proposed export of High Speed Diesel (HSD) to Bangaldesh from India has hit a speed breaker before smooth run.. Thought the deal was struck in May last between Bharat Petroleum (BP) and Bangladesh Petro Chemical Limited (BPCL) for export of 1,20,000 MMT HSD per year to Bangladesh, yet the Union Ministry of Defence and Ministry of ShippingIndia yet to give the nod.
