voter awareness campaign failed to make impact on Dr.Manmohan Singh, Prim Minister of India, as he did not cast vote here. What do you expect from general public? Though he later on said that he has casted vote throuh Postal Ballot, he had to give the explanation due to report in the media fearing criticism- one feel.

Daimary files complaint

In a bizarre move, BPF candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha poll Biswajeet Daimary has lodged a complaint against independent candidate Haidor Hussain alleging an attempt to prevent a section of opposition legislators from voting in his favour in the upcoming polls.Daimary called on returning officer Gauranga Prasad Das on Tuesday in Dispur where he filed the complaint demanded cancellation of the opposition consensus candidate’s nomination.The BPF leader on Monday publicly alleged that a Hussian told a section of AGP, BJP and AIUDF MLAs not to vote Daimary.

ULFA challenges Modi

United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) has dared Narendra Modi to withdraw the non Assamese settlers from the state.In a strongly worded statement issued to the media on Tuesday, the outfit said that the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate must know that the Hindu and Muslim people who settled in Assam after 1947 are never indigenous people.Modi is set to attend a huge rally in Guwahati on February 8.

Ninong meets Shinde

Union minister Ninong Eering on Tuesday urged the Union home minister Sushilkumar Shinde to formulate law to prevent racial attack on the north east people in New Delhi.During his half an hour meeting with Shinde, the Union minister from Arunachal Pradesh said that only a strict enforcement of a set of tough laws would help the north east people from getting ride of the racial attacks which has been taking place at regular intervals in the capital.

The Regional Science Centre in Guwahati is all set to get Innovation Hub. The new section is scheduled to be inaugurated at a function in the afternoon.Planning Commission secretary Sindhushree Khullar will open the new addition in presence of prominent scientist Dr Anil Kr Goswami, Dr Mridul Hazarika, Prof Uddhab Kr Bharali.It was developed in collaboration with the National Innovation Council. Delhi police have arrested three youths in connection with the Nido Tania murder case apart from identifying 6 others hours after the Delhi High Court asked for reports from the Centre and the Delhi Government by Wednesday.Delhi police sources told Assam Times that the arrestees include the six persons they have already identified. KLO threat over Brindabon

Kamatapur Liberation Organization has threatens security forces of dire consequences alleging that commander Brindabon Rajbanshi was killed in a fake encounter.In a statement, the Koch Rajbanshi militant outfit said that Brindabon was killed from a point blank range at Salakati area after marathon interrogation by the police on January 31.

HC order on Nido case

In a landmark directive, the Delhi High Court on Monday asked the Centre, Delhi Government to file affidavit on the recent dreaded attack on Nido Tania where the victim died.Taking a suo moto case on the death of the Arunachal Pradesh student last week in Lajpotnagar, a division bench of the court asked the concerned part to file report by Wednesday.

CLP-BPFLP meet on Wednesday

The Assam Congress legislative party will meet on Wednesday to discuss the Rajya Sabha polls slated for Friday.The CLP has invited its alliance BPF legislators to attend the meeting at the Assam Assembly.
