voter awareness campaign failed to make impact on Dr.Manmohan Singh, Prim Minister of India, as he did not cast vote here. What do you expect from general public? Though he later on said that he has casted vote throuh Postal Ballot, he had to give the explanation due to report in the media fearing criticism- one feel.

But Gogoi ultimately agreed to release arrears of 6 months. Other amounts would be released in a phase manner after the Lok Sabha polls.

Sensation seems to have escalated in Barpeta where an irate mob attacked three of a family alleging their involvement in a number of dacoity cases.The incident took place at Bartari in Barpeta on Tuesday when local residents in large number took out the trio, tied them with a rope on the street and were mercilessly beaten up.The irate mob further burnt down their house after recovering some stolen and robbed materials including gold chains, mobile phones, watch.Police rushed to the spot. But the mob refused to disperse initially. Later, the situation was brought under control.  
A city bus passenger was killed during a clash with the bus conductor in Guwahati on Tuesday.The incident took place at Panbazar area in the morning where the passenger suddenly succumbed to injuries following an altercation with the bus conductor.Later, police arrested the accused city bus conductor.
Amid massive security, a huge trailer is believed to have been carrying vital equipment for big dams in Arunachal Pradesh.The trailer managed to crossed Guwahati on Monday night and is set to reach Tezpur on Tuesday afternoon triggering protest in Nagaon.  KMSS activists, which has been dead opposed to the dams in Gerukamukh are trying to resist the move by holding road blockade in some places on the National Highway 37.
Suspected NDFB-S militants shot at a local businessman in Kokrajhar district on Monday.According to information, identified as Babu Ali, the local businessman in Kajigaon was shot at by three motorcycle armed youths in the evening on his way back to home.Police rushed to the spot. But by then, the militants managed to flee from the spot. The injured businessman was rushed to the hospital.

The world heritage site is fitted with electronic eyes to monitor the movement of rhino poachers.Forest minister Rockybul Hussian laid the foundation stone of the project at a function in Kaziranga on Monday.Initially, Kaziranga will get 8 such towers to scan the movement of poachers. More towers are in the pipeline. Notably, poachers have killed 6 rhinos during the last two months alone.

A section of city buses seem to have turned into street killer.A speeding city bus crushed to death a biker in Guwahati on Monday sending shock and anger in the city.The incident took place at Survey area in Beltola in the afternoon when the city bus rammed into the bike leaving the biker on the spot.The deceased was identified as Ranjit Kumar. Eyewitness told Assam Times that it is simply because of the speeding bus. A case has been registered in Dispur police station.
