ULFA chief set to get bail today


A TADA court in Guwahati is set to deliver its final judgment on ULFA chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa's bail petition on Wednesday. The bail is expected as the government refused to raise any objection citing its earlier promise to facilitate the release of these ULFA top leaders to ensure early talks. The Assam government has already cleared its before the court where altogether 6 cases are pending before it. The court judgment was expected on Monday. But the ruling was reserved to Wednesday citing non receipt of more affidavit from the government. In yet another development Rajkhowa would be brought before the Kamrup Chief Judicial Magistrate in connection another bail petition he moved a few days ago.


Meanwhile, Rajkhowa's family members are camping in Guwahati to take him away after his release. A massive preparation is going on in full swing to receive Rajiv Rajkonwar popularly known as Arabinda Rajkhowa. Rajkhowa along with deputy commander in chief Raju Baruah was captured in Bangladesh and was handed over to India before being remanded to judicial custody. Rajkhowa will be the sixth one top ULFA leaders to be released on bail. The others vice chairman Pradeep Gogoi, publiciry secretary Mithinga Daimary, deputy commander in chief Raju Baruah, political adviser Bhimakanta Burahgohain, cultural secretary Pranati Deka and Ramu Mech. General secretary Chitraban Hazarika and foreign secretary Sasha Chaudhury are also expected to get bail in a day or two.

A Guwahati based organization takes on Chief minister and APSC alleging bribe in the examination held to select the candidates for ACS, APS and allied services. The officials of the Peoples'Welfare Forum lodged an FIR at Basistha police station against chief minister Tarun Gogoi and APSC chairman Rakesh Paul charging the duo to have taken bribe from a section of candidates to ensure their success in the competitive examination. Gogoi on Friday said that RTI is available to get the doubts cleared. The organization staged dharna in front of APSC office premises on Saturday raising bribery allegations.
