Shillong film festival concludes
The three day Festival of Regional Films - India 2010 with the theme ‘The Natives of A Nation’ organized by the North East Film and TV Producers’ Directors’ Association (NEFTPDA) and with Riti Academy of Visual Arts came to an end on December 4.
The Best Film Award was shared by the documentary film ‘Malsawmi’ and ‘Haranor Tikit’ while ‘The Silent Darkness’ won the second best fim award. Special Jury Mention was bagged by a documentary film ‘Walk with Me’ directed by Kivini Shohe of Nagaland. The Best Director Award was given to Napoleon R Z Thanga of Mizoram for his film ‘Malsawmi’. Earlier, on December 2, the festival was inaugurated by R G Lyngdoh, Chairman Meghalaya Tourism Development Forum (MTDF). He lauded the organizers for hosting such an event.
Meanwhile, NEFTPDA president Jahnu Barua said film should not be understood as an absolute entertainment. He further said film is a universal language that can motivate and drive people towards a change of the society. The opening film at the festival was ‘Ka Phor Sorat’ by Raphael Warjri.

The need for a tea auction centre at a prime tea producing area like Jorhat was raised at a seminar in the ongoing Assam International Trade and Industrial Fair on Monday.The issue was raised by Manoj Jallan, former Chairman of NETA at a technical session on tea at one of the fair’s seminar hall.
