Shillong Autumn Festival from Nov 20
Meghalaya Tourism Development Forum (MTDF) is all set to organize the Shillong Autumn Festival with the theme ‘Tourism naturally’ on November 20 and 21, 2010 at the Orchid Lake, Umiam in Shillong.
The president of MTDF, Larsing M Sawian, said, “This edition of Autumn Festival will try to create environmental awareness among the people and also to provide a platform to expose and buy natural, ethnic products of the northeastern states. Cuisine, fruits along with traditional music and culture will be on display during the two day fest.”
“Besides, the rock bands and renowned musicians of the region will also perform. We have arranged some traditional sports competitions like archery among the youths,” he said. The organizers have also arranged for a mega canvas for the painters to create their subjects on the theme ‘tourism naturally’. Along with the above events, several other events are also on the programme for children.
“We hope that due to the geographical location of Shillong, the festival will attract visitors and moreover they will get an opportunity to have the glimpse the rich culture of the entire region in a single platform,” said one of the officials of MTDF.
