The CNN-IBN has selected Assam's noted RTI activist Akhil Gogoi as one of the top ten young leader of the country. This was confirmed by the KMSS leader on Friday in Guwahati. The country's premier satellite news channel has also selected 9 other top young leaders. Gogoi has been waging war against largescale corruptions that cripple the public life for the last several years. He has been leading the farmers' body (KMSS) who of late, dropped a bomb shell against Assam health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma alleging his nexus with R H Khan where a huge amount of fund meant for Dima Hasao district was siphoned off.

Akhil Da, We want our own resources to be preserved for future generation of Assamese people, mere giving a compensation for our land ,water by the Indian companies will not serve our purpose. We want our right to natural resources we have like nagaland,Arunachal Pradesh where even Indian big shot ONGC dare to start exploration,no one can buy a piece of land in Arunachal even PM of India cannot. we want people stock option in the Indian company where our people lost their land,job in the hand of Indian company hiddenly funded by world bank, Asian development bank,IMF etc .Sorry to say even our Prime Minister Dr. MM singh Ji is a virtual clark of World bank.

Only general council to take decision on talk

Mama/ Senior ULFA leader Bhimkanta Burhagohain said that C-in-C Paresh Barua is not oppose talk with the government and will not do it in future. Talking to reporters at the Tezpur court premises on Tuesday, Bhimkanta alias Mama said the final and formal decision on talk would be taken by the outfit's general council.

SJA delegation waiting to meet Chidambaram

The 6-member delegation led by Dr Hiren Gohain is all set to meet union home minister P Chidambaram along with some leading politicians. According to information, Dr Gohain and his delegation will meet Chidambaram to urge him to expediate the talk. The suggestion to release the jailed Ulfa top guns is likely to come up. During their date with Dr Singh on Monday, they were suggested to take it up with Chidambaram. Apart from the delegation is waiting to meet UPA chief Sonia Gandhi, BJP leader Sushma Swaraj seeking their support. On Tuesday they meet Left veteran AB Bardhan.

Positive signal from Sonia: Dr Gohain

A delegation of Sanmilita Jatiya Abhibartan led by Dr Hiren Gohain on Wednesday received positive signal in terms of holding talk with ULFA through dialogue. The Congress president flashed her green signal as the delegation met her at her 10th Janapath residence. Talking to reporters, the delegation leader and critic Dr Gohain said Gandhi was positive for an amicable settlement of the insurgency problem in Assam. The delegation is scheduled to meet Union home minister P Chidambaram at 4-30 in the evening.

CBI fails to get RH Khan in custody

The Central Bureau of Investigation probing the multicrore scam in the NC Hills of Tuesday failed to get remand of the accused RH Khan as he was not produced before the special court. According to information, the authorities at the Guwahati central jail did not take the suspended social welfare officer to the court citing health ground certified by a panel of doctors. The court has asked teh jail authorities to produce Khan before the court on June 28.

PM hints at positive response for talk: Dr Gohain

There seems to be an end to the decade-old deadlock over the ULFA-government talk. The encouraging development surfaces as prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh shows keen desire to hold talk with ULFA when a delegation of the statr's civil society called on him on Monday evening. Led by noted critic and educationist Dr Hiren Gohain, the Sanmilito Jatiyo Abhibartan delegation urged Dr Singh to revive the talk to end the decade old insurgency problems confronting Assam and its people. Paresh not bigger than ULFA central body

Noted academician and critic Dr Hiren Gohain said ULFA C-in-C Paresh Barua can't alone oppose talk with Government. Talking to reporters in Delhi on Monday Dr Gohain said Barua has no right to impose a decision on talk and that it for central body to take the final decision where he is a member. 

SJA delegation happy with PM

PM's date with Dr Hiren Gohain led SJA delegation ended on a positive note on Monday. According to Dr Gohain, the prime minister is very positive and that he was keen to solve the Ulfa problem. He said the government must release the Jailed leaders to help them take a formal decision.

PM’s date with Dr Gohain-led delegation at 6-45 PM

Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh is all set to meet a civil society delegation from Assam on Monday evening to explore the possibilities of an expedited talk between ULFA and the government. According to sources, the talk is scheduled at 6-45 in the evening. Earlier, led by Dr Hiren Gohain the delegation was scheduled to meet the PM at 10-30 in the morning. But it was re-scheduled.
