Milk production training for poor women

Jana Kalyan Sanstha, a social organization of Dhupguri in Nagaon district has recently started training on milk production under the Diary Project (STEP - Support to Training and Employment Programme for women) where 504 poor women were enrolled. STEP is a policy, under the Government of India's department of women and child development, the project aims at improving the economic status of rural women through efficient and modern dairy management.

The function was inaugurated at Dhupguri by the president of the organization Ahmed Ali which was attended by retired Veterinary doctor Debendra Nath Muktiar and Dr. Suren Keot of Dhing. While addressing the women Dr. Muktiar told that after the training would help them to become self dependent with a very low investment.

Beside them, social worker Abdul Jabbar, Mujammel Hussain, the secretary of the organization Kutubuddin Ahmed also attended the function. Abdul Jabbar on his speech told that, “It is a good sign that these poor women have come out for the training beside their heavy work load.” He added, “The scientific study about milk production would help the beneficiaries to increase the production to fulfill the local demand.

It is to mention that it is the very first kind of programme which has been started by Jana Kalyan Santha in the North West part of Nagaon district. The local people including various panchayats have largely appreciated the organization for their step and hope for the over all success of the scheme in their area.
