Bijnan Jyoti Jatra By ASTEC


Assam Science Technology and Environment Council, with support from the Department of Science & Technology, Government of Assam is organizing a Scientific Excursion, Bijnan Jyoti Jatra, through a train to be hired from the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). The Excursion will start on 3rd October 2010 from Guwahati and will end on 7th October 2010.


One full train is being hired, which will carry a 650 contingent including students, escorts, officials and medical personals. The train will go to Kolkata, where we are arranging visits to various scientific places, like Science City, Birla Planetarium, Indian Botanical Garden, Tatanagar, Durgapur, industries and laboratories during the journey. Moreover, various scientific competitions will be held inside the train during the whole tour and attractive prizes will be given. The train will be decorated with various scientific posters and exhibits.


In the proposed programme students will be selected from all the development blocks of Assam through various competitions and their performance in scientific activities. Moreover, top child scientists from Children's Science Congress will also be included in the team.
