Mousham and Sangita bring glory to Barpeta

Barpeta district shines in the HSLC results that was declared on May 20. 10 candidates shined in the top 20. Jugal Talukdar stood first position from Choukhuti High school. Two candidates from Barpeta Sankardev Vidya Niketan stood 9th and 17th position. Mousham Das who stood 9th position is the son of Chakradhar Das, Assam Gramin VIkash Bank employee and Anjali Das. Talking to this correspondent, Mousham said that he expected more than this result, he was not satisfied with his results. He studied 6-7 hours in a day and his parents and teachers are his main source of inspiration. "Ashidinat Prithivi Paribhraman" by Jul Vern is his favorite book. He wants to be a doctor and will admit either in M.C. College, Barpeta or in Cotton college, Guwahati. He secured a total of 560 - Eng- 95, As- 82, Gs- 98, SS- 90, Adv Maths- 96, Gm- 96. He had private tuition in GM, AM ENG and As.


On the contrary Sangita Devi stood 17th position from the same school in Barpeta. She is the daughter of Kumud Sarma, eletrical engineetr, Barpeta and Kalpana Devi. Talking to this cporrespondent she expressed that she got more than her expectation. She secured a total of 552 -As- 80, Eng-89, GS-97, SS- 92, Adv Maths- 97, GM- 97. She will read at pathsala junior college and want to be a doctor in future,. " Chiraj" is her favourite book and Lakshminath Bezbaruah is her favorite author. Mentionable that this year 120 candidates will be able to shine in the top 20. Among those except the above Dipangkali sarma stood 4th position from Sarupeta High school,Barpeta( Total marks 565), 15th position by Rui Das, Sarupeta Sishu Sankar Niketan,Sarupeta, Barpeta( Total Marks- 554), Abinash Das stood 16th position From Pathsala Sikshapith, Adarsha High school, Barpeta( Total Marks-553), Again 16th podsition by Gunajit Deka of Sankardev Sishu Niketan, Bahari, Barpet( Total Marks - 553), Debajit Talukdar,- 19th position from Sankardev Sishu Niketan, Bhawanipur, Barpeta ( Total Marks- 550), 19th Position- Bubumani kalita from Sankardev Shishu Vidya Niketan, Pathasala, Barpeta( Total Marks -550), and Suranjana Patowary ,from St. Mary's High School,Barpeta road, Barpeta( Total Marks-549).


THis year a total of 15,202 candidates appeared in the HSLC examination and among those 1081 -1st div, 2204-2nd div., and 7948 -3rd div. The percentage f passing in the entire district is 73.89. Barpeta district is in third positiion in the state

FIR registered against two judicial employees at Barpeta

The corruption of two officers of Barpeta district and Xatra judicial office came to light. According to reports, Ganapati Talukdar, Chirastadar, Barpeta District and Xatra Judicial office and his assistant Sukur Ali called the chowkidar Jitu Sarma to open the office on January 31 at 9.30 which was a holiday (Me-dam-Me-Phi). Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad submits memo to CM

The Barpeta district unit of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister demanding the development of the govt. educational institution of Barpeta district. In the memorandum, it was stated that the state govt. had not taken any necessary steps to improve the educational institutions of the district. Barpeta anchalik AASU submitted a memorandum to the SP, Barpeta and demanded to stop the selling of illicit liquor at Barpeta. Two dacoits killed in encounter at Barpeta

Two dacoits were killed in an encounter at Jalakura bridge at Keotkuchi, about 4 km from Barpeta yesterday night. According report, a group police personnel headed by the ASP, DSP and TSI of Barpeta got information about the dacoits and they are awaiting for them at that place. As soon as they arrived the police try to catch them, but the encounter took place between the police and the dacoits. As a result two dacoits were killed and other fled away. A pistol, a deggar and a mobile handset were recovered from them. The dead dacoits were not identified till now.

Fake note recovered in Barpeta District

The DSP of Barpeta Sushanta Biswa Sarma with the police personnel of Barpeta and Kalgachiya i/c recovered fake notes worth Rs.11500 of 500 denominations from a one Alam Ali of Madrasapara of Kokila outpost in Barpeta district yesterday. The money was recovered at Barvitha near Kalgachiya. According to report, the business of fake currency was on going during last few days in the entire district. However, police could not find out the main culprit till filing o fthis report. Further investigation is going on.

AGP leaders visited Flooded areas

The central AGP members and MP Kumar Deepak Das today visited the flooded areas of Barpeta District under Sarbhog LAC. In this visit Gunindra Nath Das, MLA, Barpeta; central AGP members David Ledger, Dhruba Talukdar, Mukul Das and MP Kumar Deepak Das took part. The group also demanded to construct a braille bridge at Dumunighat under Sarbhog LAC in Barpeta district. In this regard they submitted a memorandum to the Deputy commissioner of Barpeta along with some other demands like --rehabilitation of the flood victims, food for the cattles etc.The Deputy commissioner of Barpeta assured the AGP leaders to solve these problems as per as possible.

Twin sisters shines at Pathsala

Three students from pathsala and Patacharkuchi in Barpeta District secured 4th,14th and 20th position respectively.
