Glimpses of Signature Awards 2009


The 11th edition of Signature Awards 2009 cum seminar hosted by Signature Training Centre - premier institute for hair, beauty and spa technology in the North East was held at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra auditorium, Guwahati, on November 27-28. The mega award ceremony on Saturday was graced by Mrs Lata Kanchandani the renowned international beauty exponent from Mumbai. The latest hair-style and make-up techniques in films Kaminey, Blue and Whats your Rashi was presented at the awards ceremony by her in association with Madhumita Saikia renowned spa and beauty specialist of the region. Indian famous bollywood star like Shilpa Shetty, Akshay Kumar, Samira, Katrina Kaif are few to name who is blessed with her make-up and hair-style..


The competition for the coveted awards function started off with a traditional round following by fancy round and finally adjudged on basis of on the spot performance and audience voting. The breaks were filled with full fun and entertainment by laughter king Kamal Singh. The The music for model walk were composed by Subhrajyoti Baruah and choreographed by Shivangee Saikia. More over like every year, the students of STC performed a dance number. Filler dance troupe from Nagoan anchored by young choreographer Gaurav Hazarika kept the audience spell bound by their spectacular performance and received a huge applause. Varieties of hair design and make up were presented by 19 students and some 40 models on the stage. Creativity round as always had impression make up of ghosts and frightening creatures on earth however some imaginary makeup made by using green leafs, sky blue etc. were highly appreciated. Each round carried a special message for the society like “Save the Tree”, “Save Animals”, and “Stop Flesh Trade” also “Eradicate Gender Bias and Issues”. On stage Bride, party, social mixing etc. make up and specially dating makeup and hairstyles were presented. Even bridal mehandi and “No Smoking” encrypted mehandi were shown on the spot on stage by the students.


The mega event was inaugurated by Wng Cdr T K Singha PRO Defence to President of India along with national award winning Assamese cine industry actor of yesteryears Smt. Molaya Goswami. The event was judged by Mrs Lata Kanchandani the renowned international beauty exponent from Mumbai, Mrs. Garima Saikia Garg acclaimed fashion designer, Kamal Singh veteran comedian of North East, Dr. Sangeeta Dutta Psychiatrist Down Town Hospital, Dr. Akashitora Dutta Actor and Producer, Moloya Goswami noted artist and Sanjeev Narain Chairman of Prag Entertainment Network Television (P) Ltd. The guests of the event were Rohit Goutam Deputy Editor “Saparivar” Nepali language monthly magazine, Hemanta Saikia Editor “Saparivar” Assamese magazine, Sharmistha Nandi Paliwal Director Training Services THIRD EYE INFOSYS (P) Ltd., Sanjeev Kakoti Sr. Management Consultant and Pronoy Bordoloi Executive Editor DY 365. The jam-packed show was hosted by popular Radio Jockey of Gup Shup94.3 FM RJ Megha, she too was specially dressed up and her hair styled for the occasion. Even she was the major point of attraction for the audience. After 3 hours of brain storming and heart beating moments Manju Borgahain of Arunachal Pradesh walked away with the Singnature Empress 2009 award that includes a 6 days 5 night trip to US, UK or Hong Kong or Bangkok, a diamond tiara with a citation. Signature Queen 2009 Jinti Kalita of Guwahati and Signature Princess 2009 Pubali Baruah of Assam were also awarded accordingly. All the participants and models were given a citation. This year the six best contestants were given a transferable foreign trip for a week with return air tickets, five star hotel accommodation including lunch and dinner. The destinations are U.S, U.K, and Hong kong as per their own choice. The awards were given a way by Director of Signature Training Centre Hemanta Saikia along with Principal of the centre Madhumita Saikia. This is all how the much awaited biggest hair styling and makeup competition of North East came to an end and here are the glimpses of the few.

Devotees in Guwahati celebrated the "Jhulan Puja" marking the day Lord Krishna was put on a cot after his birth in last Jamnastami. On this day baby Lord Krishna becomes 13 month old and he is put on the cot for the 1st time. The week long festival ended today on Bhadra purnima coinciding with Rakshabandhan.
