A major ULFA attack awaitsd Assam before the Black Day on November 27. According to highly placed sources, a group of top ULFA rebels have managed to sneak into Assam to strike in some vital plances on November 27. These hardcore rebels recently sneaked into the state from Myanmar, Bhutan and Nagaland to carry out blasts in protest against the first army operation against the outfit on that date in 1991. The target is said to be the oil refineries. They include Bosa Singh, Pinku Phukan, Upen Borgohain, Bimal Kalita, Sadin Rai, Rajanikanta Singh, Pulak Bharali, Hitesh Rai and Akon Moran.

Forty people have been injured while a Dergaon-Jorhat bus fell into a deep gorge before it reached the destination. According to information, the incident that left ten people seriously injured took place at around 10-45 in the morning near the Jorhat Coca Cola factory when the driver lost the control after developing a technical snag. Later local people came out and rescued the passengers. The injured people have been rushed to the hospital. Some of them have been released after primary treatment. The driver is remaining untraced. A surrendered ULFA cadre has made a startling revelation on Tuesday that ULFA utilizes its newly recruited fellows in the strikes against Hindi speaking people along with army and police. A failure government on the law and order front in Assam has been behind the BLT-NDFB clashes in the Bodo dominated areas in the state. This is alleged by Assam BJP unit spokesman Charan Deka. Addressing a pres conference in the city on Monday Mr Deka alleged that the Government has been failing to control the deteriorating the state’s law and order scenario. Deka cited some figures to justify his claim saying 2152 murder cases with 2024 rape cases in the state from April 2005 to November 2007. Deka also maintained that the Government is going to to impose new entry tax on some essential commodities.
Police detained several workers of the state animal husbandry and veterinary department at the dharna site on Monday while they were holding protest in front of the directorate office demanding government steps to regularize their jobs. A Kamrup district session court on Monday sentenced life imprisonment for four CRPF jawans chargesheeted by CBI in the Imphal firing case where nine people were killed in 1995. One hardcore ULFA cadre died at an encounter with Army in Dibrugarh district's Kakopathar area on Monday. According to information, the ULFA cadre was identified as Kanak Chetia who is known to be the outfit's IED expert. A chinese pistol and some explosive materials have been recovered from his possession.
