Aryabhatta Science Centre,Kalaigaon organizes science-based competitions

Aryabhatta Science Centre, Kalaigaon in association with ASTEC (Assam Science Technology & Environment Council) Guwahati is going to organize various science based competitions for the children of schools under Kalaigaon Development Block. It needs mention that ASTEC has already established one Aryabhatta Science Centre in each of the development blocks of Assam to popularize science among common people of the villages. scientific tools had already been provided to such centres. According to Biman Barua, state coordinator of ASTEC sophisticated scientific tools like space telescope, GPS, soil testing kits etc would be provided to successful Aryabhatta Science Centres


Accordingly Aryabhatta Science Centre, Kalaigaon located at Lokapriya Bordoloi Public School has decided to arrange science based –(a)extempore speech competition;(b)poster drawing competition; and (c) science model competition for the students studying in schools under Kalaigaon Development Block on November 11 at JNV (Jawahar Novodaya Vidyalaya ) Kalaigaon premises with day long programme. It has been announced that the best students in each category would take part in the district level science meet to be held at Udalguri town in December 2009.Assam government has already appointed one senior ACS officer of Udalguri district to conduct the district science meet in December 2009.


An organizing committee has been formed at Kalaigaon on the occasion with Maheswar Baro, MLA, as president; Madhab Sarma, Principal JNV Kalaigaon as the working president; Jayanta Kumar Das, coordinator of Aryabhatta Science Centre, Kalaigaon as secretary and Keshab Saharia, Asstt. Coordinator of Aryabhatta Science Centre Kalaigaon as asstt. secretary. The committee has requested all the school heads to send two student participants under the guidance of a teacher in each category.All schools could send three science models to the science meet. ASTEC source said that the best student of each block would be chosen to take on a science tour to ISRO next year.
