Talk on Youth and Drug Abuse

half day programme dealt on various information related to illegal drugs and its effects on young people. The programme begun with lighting lamp by Dr S K Jain, Principal of JNV .Ranjan K Baruah., youth activist from Guwahati delivered the talk. He focused on various types of drugs and its affects on the health. The interactive programme was attended by the students and teachers of the school. L Dev Kumar Singh and Prasenjit Das, teachers of JNV coordinated the programme as a part of the adolescents programme.

Not to speak of the mushrooming bars in the towns of Assam, drugs are also sold in some so called pharmacies/ drug stores/ medical stores. The buyers call it 'powder'.

The Goreswar Ancholik Committee of All Bodo Students Union organised a day long Career Counselling Programme for the students on 18th July at Goreswar College. Excel North East Development (ENED), a Guwahati based voluntary organization had recently organized a free eye check up camp at Moirapur Health sub centre under Rani Block on 6th July 2008. The programme was part of the village development programme being carried out by the ENED in the Greater Rani locality, near Guwahati. More than 100 people were checked during the eye camp in which 23 cases of cataract was detected as the camp was mainly for the elderly persons of the locality.
