Quiz on Total Solar Eclipse at Guwahati Planetarium

A quiz competition on total solar eclipse of July 22 /2009 was arranged for students at Guwahati Planetarium on July 19 at 11 am.The programme was arranged by Guwahati Planetarium and Pragjyotish Amateur Astronomers' Association supported by department of science of technology,government of Assam.More than 50 participants from different schools and colleges appeared in the screening test in the morning,out of which eight participants were selected for the final round.The quiz was conducted by Dr. Kishore Baruah of Tezpur Central University and Dr. Balindra Subedar, former secretary of Pragjyotish Amateur Astronomers' Association,Guwahati.Mrs.Jyotimoni Baruah,lecturer,department of chemistry,Goreswar college kept the score.Cash awards of Rs.6000/-,Rs.5000/-,Rs.4000/-and Rs.3000/- were awarded to first,second,third and fourth participants respectively.Dr.Anil Kumar Goswami,president,U.N.Deka,secretary of Pragjyotish Amateur Astronomers' Association; Babul Borah, curator, Guwahati planetarium etc were present on the occasion.
