The foundation of ‘Bigyananda Yoga and Naturopathy Hospital’ has been laid at Kalaigaon Sevashram on June 26 at 11 am. Nonagenarian freedom fighter and social worker Pani Ram Das formally laid the foundation of the proposed Yoga hospital in presence of several distinguished persons including Yoga guru and founder of Bigyananda Yogashram Sangha Hiren Sarkar; Dithakananda Hazarika,Circle Officer Kalaigaon and Harisinga Revenue Circle and Dr.Naba Kumar Das.It needs mention that freedom fighter Pani Ram Das had donated a plot of land measuring two bighas ,worth rupees ten lakhs for the establishment of the Yoga hospital.On the occasion an inaugural ceremony was arranged at Vocational Training Centre building (near the site of the hospital). Mahesh Deka secretary of the proposed hospital management committee,in his welcome speech explained about various programmes of Bigyananda Yogashram Sangha and welcomed all the guests and people to the ceremony. Yoga specialist Chandana Bharati in her introductory speech read out the felicitation letter before handing it over to the donor of the land.
Freedom fighter 93 years old Pani Ram Das, addressing the gathering ruminated his nostalgic past. He narrated a few untold real stories of his youth, when he was fighting the mighty British under the leadership of Gandhi. He said it took time for a true and committed worker to achieve permanent results. He requested all to come forward to act positively for the society. Dr.Naba Kumar Das also address the people and explained the need of yoga in daily life. He said yoga could make both body and mind strong enough to control all the physical and mental disorders.He said only yoga and meditation could remove so called present day stress and strain of people.
Conferring “Karmashree” title on freedom fighter Pani Ram Das for his life long social works,Yoga Guru Hiranya Garva said that society needed a few persons like Pani Ram Das. He said Bigyananada Yogashram Sangha was established on December 25 in 1999.He also said that his Sangha had taken up action plan to treat physically challenged people of the state.He thanked all and sought help and cooperation for the success of the Yoga hospital at Kalaigaon Sevashram.Journalists Tankeswar Baruah also spoke a few words on the occasion. Journalists Kanneswar Deka,Rabindra Rava and Dipak Deka also attended the ceremony.

In a very tragic and barbaric incident, Puspanjali Das (19)wife of Chandan Debnath of Thakuriapara village under Bhergaon sub-division in Udalguri district has been burnt down alive on Saturday noon for non-payment of marriage dowry. The incident has shocked the district. The lady was put in a sac before thrown in a fire lighted in a heap of hay. Puspanjali was married to Chandan just three months bac.
