Gorkha students' community Unified: AANSU merged into AAGSU

The unconstitutionally breakaway faction of the All Assam Gorkha Students' Union (AAGSU)-the apex Gorkha students' organisation of Assam AANSU in its abbreviated form All Assam Nepali Students' Union (AANSU) today merged into former unconditionally. It was a red letter day for the Gorkha students community of Assam at the Phanidhar Dutta Memorial Seminar Hall Gauhati University at 6 pm as the Special Joint AAGSU-AANSU unification Steering committee declared All Assam Nepali Students' Union (AANSU) merger into All Assam Gorkha Students' Union (AAGSU) unconditionally. AAGSU-AANSU Unification Declaration drafting committee team lead by Deepak Niroula on behalf of AANSU and Harkha Bahadur Chetri on behalf of AAGSU lead the AAGSU President Dil Bahadur Limboo and AANSU President Kishor Upadhyay to shake hands an exchange greetings. Then and there all present in the house in honour of the Unification and voice slogan AANSU-AAGSU ek ho! AAGSU Longlive, Gorkha Unity Long Live etc with all smiles on faces of each delegates in the house. Earlier Kishor Upadhyay President AANSU declared that AANSU unanimously and unconditionally merged into AAGSU as it dissolved now. All AANSU workers of all section are now the member of AAGSU. In his statement he held himself responsible for the division of Gorkha students' community in Assam and begged apology for his misdeed and further promised to work hand in hand together with AAGSU for the welfare of Gorkha community. He totally denied proposal of AANSU members as General Secretary AAGSU or any other portfolio saying that the modalities of unification nowhere mention this and declared dissolution of All Assam Nepali Students' Union (AANSU) Central committee, all existing District committee, all Regional committee , unit and grassroot as well. Thereafter one of the President of the Presidium presiding the State Students' Convention for Unification Shri Dil Bahadur Limboo President AAGSU declared unified gorkha students' community as All Assam Gorkha Students' Union (AAGSU) and appealed the house to be bound by the constitution and principles of AAGSU.

Soon after the unification declaration from the presidium one of the delegate and President of Odalguri dist. AANSU for and onbehalf of all AANSU delegates in the house unanimously declared acceptance of AANSU merger into AAGSU and declared that they are the delegate of AAGSU now and will follow and abide by the constitution and principles of AAGSU. He also declared their accepatnce of AAGSU President as their Prsident as Mr. Dil Bahadur Limboo was constitutionally elected AAGSU President but demanded AANSU President to be accommodated as General Secretary of unified AAGSU on demand of the house which the Special Joint AAGSU-AANSU unification Steering committee and AAGSU denied. Reacting sharply to denial, members and delegates of former AANSU raised voice and walked out of the house declaring end of AANSU and their students politics. As walkout began the house turned chaotic at the mean time the steering committee declared accommodation of former AANSU President as Advisor of AAGSU. The walk out delegates did not turned back so citing unconstitutional and unparliamentary activity by newly inducted AAGSU members AAGSU President declared the house being adjourned till the next extended executive meeting as the alloted time was over. A press meet has been called on 16th March Monday evening in office of the AAGSU at Nepali Mandir, Paltan Bazar to declare the unification. More details will be added on after the media conference.

This is a good move and this was long overdue. Time has come to fight for our constitutional rights in India. Our ancestors have served this country for long, but today we are all dubbed as foreigners. India must scrap 1950 Indo-Nepal treaty. True, there are some illegal migrants from Nepal, but they are far and few compared to the Bangladeshish. Bangladeshis have already gobbled up North Bengal which historically belongs to the Gorkhas.

2 dead in accident in Borgang

It’s a tragic accident which left two people dead in Borgang area under Biswanath polic station in Darrang district last night while a bus hit them after losing its control. According to information, a Guwahati bound night super from Lakhimpur bearing No AS01 Y9561 suddenly lost its control in Borgang and hit both the people leaving them spot dead. Police foil city bombing bid

ULFA was planning serial bombings in the city from March 10. This startling revelation was made by ULFA leader Champak Sarma who was arrested on Tuesday in front of the Cotton College. Champak was on his way to collect cash from the proprietor of the Wintdrop Hospital Dr Tridip Baruah showing a letter on the pad of ULFA’s 29th battalion commander Bosa Singh. Champak is an inhabitant of Baruahbari gaon under Kamalpur police station in Kamrup district. The police further conducted a raid at Champak’s rented room and recovered a huge cache of explosive materials. Police have claimed that these explosive materials were kept for the March 10 serial bombings in the city.

12 people depose before Manisana panel

Altogether 12 businessmen on Tuesday deposed before the Manisana panel which is probing the violence that rocked Beltola on 24th of November. These people came to the commission office housed at the Circuit House in response to the panel’s appeal it made during the recent visit to the spot. The commission, however, asked the Dispur police to lift the people of Beltola willing to depose before it.

Deforestation causing concern

Yet again it’s deforestation which has almost denuded the Delhi Reserve Forest of Charaideo. The deforestation is evident from a number of illegal saw mills along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border. The cause behind it is the sheer apathy from the part of the forest department. Vvaluable woods of this forest are supplied to different saw mills of Arunachal Pradesh. The state forest department has been failing to protect this forest.

ONGC blamed for pollution in Geleky

The hydro functioning technology of the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation has been behind the pollution at Galekey which causes more concern among the people of the area: The people in the area have blamed it all on the oil giant for pollution in different oil field areas since last several years. Recently in January, the ONGC causes huge pollution in Galekey Modinagar Tea Estate. The new Hydro functioning Job Technology has been causing chemical mix water leakage incident from the earth and cracked down the floor of the Galekey M.V. School and residence of a few citizens, it also create soil-air and water pollution there.

Aircel beeps without security

The mobile phone service provider Aircel has been expanding its business in different places of Assam continuously. But without any security ring. For its mobile networks the Aircel established ultra-modern mobile towers in different areas of Sivasagar District. Several tea garden people including Moran's Assam Chah Mazdoor general secretary Lakheswar Tati, have been injured in police lathicharge made to quell the situation while these people were attaking the Assam Chah Mazdoor office in Moran. Hundreds of tea garden labourers at the Doomar dalang Tea Estate attacked the Assam Chah Mazdoor office in Moran in protest against the lock out of the garden from January 28. Police arrest peace broker for IA plane hijack bid

Police have arrested a peace broker, a lawyer and a journalist charging with involving in the ULFA’s recent bid to hijack an Indian Airlines plane. Big setback for ULFA: top cadres surrender

It’s a big setback for ULFA as three top ranked cadres of the dreaded 709th battalion have surrendered on Monday before Army in upper Assam’s Dibrugarh district. Former Assembly Speaker arrested

Nalbari police have arrested former Asam Assembly Speaker Pulakesh Baruah from his Guwahati based residence on Friday evening. The aitting Trinamul Asom Gana Parishad president was arrested in connection with the the teacher recruitment scam that rocked Nalbari district during 1999-2000.
