Guwahati: Corruption in the name of anti corruption. Police informed that, a group of youth in lower Assam had formed a self-styled organization “Anti Corruption Force of Assam” to collect money illegally from Traders, contractors and Corrupt Government officers in 2004. Since then they have been raising several lakhs of rupees from different people.
Bagsha police Friday caught Babul Rabha from Barbari, recovered one hand grenade and some incriminating document including demand notes and money receipts. Rabha informed police that Durniti Nibarak Bahini, Asom, (ACFA) is active in Barpeta, Bagsha and Nalbari district with nearly fifty members joined in it.
The 18th edition of the Bodoland martyrs gold cupfootball championship-2017 kicked off at KDSA stadium ground in Kokrajhar on Saturday. In the inaugural match, NF Railway,Maligaon beat Dhupdhara Football Academy, Goalpara 3-0 goals.
For NFR, Jilendra Brahma netted first goal in 30th minutes and Sibra Narzary scored two goals in 34th and 37th minutes against Dhupdhara in the first half and led the match 3-0 goals.Tge Dhupdhara tried to reduced the goals, yet lost to NFR team.
Tomorrow, Kamrupa FC, Guwahati will take on Daimalu FC, Udalguri. Altogether 12 teams across the different states,included ASEB, Guwahati, Assam Riffles,Guwahati,Shillong FC,Udangshri SC, Barama etc. The championship is being organised by Ex-BLT welfare society and Kokrajhar district sports association.

The championship has been organised in memory of Bodoland martyrs,who sacrifice their lives for the cause of Bodoland movement,said convenor of the organising committee of the championship. Among others, Rabiram Narzary, MLA Kokrajhar west, BTC executive members Doneswar Goyary,Rajib Brahma.
In a yet another incident that strikes the attention of the state’s legal fraternity, a lady lawyer has been sent to police custody for allegedly misbehaving with a judicial magistrate in Jorhat district on Saturday.
It took place in Titabor in the morning when the sub divisional judicial magistrate ordered arrest of a lady lawyer alleging that she misbehaved with him as she conducted a case of bail petition.
After heated arguments, the magistrate issued an arrest warrant against the lawyer alleging misbeviour and disturbing in the functionings. After arrest, she was produced before the Jorhat Chief Judicial Magistrate in the afternoon.
As soon as the bizarre news spread like wildfire, lawyers in large number from Jorhar, Sivasaga and Golaghat district thronged the Titabor SDJM court premises and staged dharna demanding release of the lawyer.

Police men tracking the case are tightlipped on the breakthrough where the miscreants started indiscriminate firing at a truck leaving the driver Kiren Ray who hails from Salmara area in Bongaigaon dead on the spot.
