Altogether 3,40,457 students are appearing in the Assam High School Leaving Certificate and the Assam High Madrassa examinations which begin on Friday across the state.
Of these candidates this time, 2,37,249 candidates are regular while 96,932 others are private candidates.
The Board of Secondary Education, Assam is conducting the examination in altogether 770 examination centres with 26 zonal supervising offers and 911 supervisors. Sources say the evaluation of the answer scripts will be completed by March 31 in 46 centres in different states in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has extended his best wishes to the examinees.
