CBI ready to arrest moe NBCC officers

The Central Bureau of Investigation rolls up its sleeves to book a few more top ranked NBCC officers in connection with the Rs 44 crore scam in the road and bridge construction works in Assam.

According to information, the investigation agency is understood to have got more clues as it is probing the muti-crore scam. Two top arrested officers of the National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC) BC Dhiman and P K Mittal have made some sensational revelations in their confessional statement. Investigation is progress.

Meawhile, P K Mittal has been remanded to CBI custody for five days after he was arrested in Shillong on Tuesday. According to allegation, the Rs 5 lakh bribe amount Dhiman had with him was paid to him by PK Mittal but he denied it when he was brought to produce before a CBI special court in Guwahati on Wednesday.

The scam: It took place in the road construction works by NBCC in Guwahati from 2002-08. Total 261 lanes and by-lanes was constructed and repaired during this period with a fund Rs 22 crore along with 229 by-lanes for Rs 22 crore. Dhiman was the project manager while Mr Mittal was his deputy during this period. Later, Dhiman was transferred to Delhi and Mittal to Shillong.
