I was the part of the night and it was a wonderful experience being there. A bunch of enthusiastic people trying to keep the "Real Asom" in their heart staying away from home even in these busy days. The Rongiya police saved the people from a major tragedy while they recovered a powerful Programmed Timed device from near a hotel on the National Highway on Tuesday evening. The bomb was recovered from a Guwahati-bound bus which was concealed under a seat. Investigation is going on and police have picked up seven persons in this regard.

The ASDC has rushed an eight member delegation to New Delhi on Tuesday to reiterate the demand for an autonomous state covering both North Cachar and Karbi Anglong districts. The demand came up in 1986 but the Centre has been maintaining silence. Now they hope the demand this time will be effective in view of the preparation for formation of the second state reorganization panel. The delegation will call on home minister Shivraj Patil and Opposition leader L K Advani.
Again poaching has rocked the Kaziranga National Park on Monday night. The body of the rhino was spotted at the Bagori range on Tuesday morning. The poachers took away the horn after killing the rhino with 303 rifles. The incident took place hardly 24 hours after forest minister Rockybul Hussain suggested a slew of measures to stop poaching in the state’s sanctuaries. The park authority restricted the entry of media people who rushed to the sport when the message was spreading like wildfire. This is the fifth rhino to be poached this year itself. There is flutter in the FCI as a big big rice scandal is coming up following the seizure of three trucks loaded with rice from FCI meant for the poor people in Baska district. According to information, the trucks bearing No AS-25-B 4415, AS01 AC 7237 and AS 25 B 1669 have been seized by the police from Beltola area Sunday while they were on the way to Basks but halted at the yard of one businessmen Babulal Ramsuru in Beltola who was ready to sent these to Meghalaya.
