Healthcare for All: Shushrusha Setu Mega Health Camp in Nazira Constituency

As part of the Assam government's "Sevai Samarpan: Seva Saptah" program, a mega health camp titled "Shushrusha Setu" was organized today at Chakimukh Higher Secondary School's playground for the Nazira constituency. The event was inaugurated by Nazira constituency MLA Debabrata Saikia and Tai Ahom Development Council Chairman Mayur Borgohain by lighting lamps in memory of artist Zubeen Garg.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Nazira Co-District Commissioner Pratibha Meshram, Demow Co- District Commissioner Meenakshi Perme,  Assistant Commissioner of Sivasagar District  Parishmita Dhingia, Assistant Commissioners of Nazira Arunabh Sonowal and Kalyan Jyoti Hazarika, Joint Director of Health Services Dr. Makhan Chandra Kalita, Nodal Officer Dr. Souvik Bhattacharjee, and members of the Sivasagar District Project Team.

The health camp offered various health services, including registration desks, mobile laboratories, general laboratories, general OPDs, ENT, and cancer OPDs. A total of 1,247 people registered for the health camp, and 162 individuals were referred to specialized hospitals for further treatment. The camp provided health check-ups and medical services under 10 specialized departments.

The event saw significant participation from the local community, with many residents benefiting from the health services provided. The health camp is a testament to the government's commitment to providing accessible healthcare services to the people of Nazira constituency.

ULFA(I) virtually scorned the security forces on Monday when the rebels in search of the sovereign Asom exploded a bomb in Charaideo when the district joined the Independence Day on Monday. Forest officials in Sivasagar district captured a leopard which has been creating a reign of terror at a tea garden area in Geleky. Acting on the complaints of the local residents in the Modi Tea Estate area, the forest officials with the help of a group of people laid a trap where the animal landed on Friday night. Then it was sent to a safe place to be rehabilitated much to a major respite for hundreds of people in the entire area who has already lost their domestic animals like cows, goats and pigs.
Freedom fighter, president of Nazira District Freedom Fighters Association and veteran Congress leader Subha Gogoi breathed his last at his residence at Mazenga on Thursday. He was 95 and survived by his wife and three sons. MLA of Nazira Debobrate Saikia, ex. Minister Hemoprobha Saikia, ex. MP Durpad Borgohain and several organisations condoled in his death.

The protest over the oilfield auctioning move gathers momentum when AASU activists in large number staged mass demonstration in Nazira on Wednesday asking the government not to proceed. The protest over the move to auction oilfields and VAT hike have refused to die down. Many activists of the Ahom Jatiya Gana Manch in Sivasagar staged a two hours dharna in protest against the tow decisions alleging that the new government keeps taking anti people policies. Nazira AASU unit staged its dharna on Friday against the spiralling price rise following the hike in VAT against 127 goods. Hundreds of student activists thronged Nazira town in the morning where they staged dharna for four hours raising slogans against the government.Talking to Assam Times, the protesters said that the new government would have to face the consequences if its keeps the anti-people policies. “The VAT hike was unwanted. Several parties and organizations staged protests in Sivasagar district on Monday raising a number of issues confronting Assam and its people. Hundreds of activists of the Peoples Council of Peace and Development staged a 4 hour long dharna in front of the DC office demanding an immediate rollback of the move to auction 12 oilfields. Other demands include measures to stop rhino poaching in Kaziranga. Later, they sent a memorandum to the Centre through the Deputy Commissioner outlining their demands. Meanwhile, CPI unit in district also submitted a memorandum before the DC to stall the process to auction the oilfields.
The 12 hour bandh call in protest against the move to auction 12 oil fields heavily hit normal life in Nazira on Tuesday. Called by the Tai Ahom Youva Parishad, the bandh got total response in the entire Nazira sub division where schools and colleges, banks and other public and private institutions remained closed. Many picketers enforced the bandh by burning tyres on the roads apart from shouting slogans against the central and state governments.
