NRC upgradation process in progress

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi says the work on the national register of citizens in Assam is nearing an end.

Addressing press conference in Dispur on Saturday, Gogoi said the state government is waiting for the Centre’s nod to upgrade the modalities. According to him, the process of NRC scanning and data entry is completing and that the the standard operating procedure would be sent to the Centre after the state cabinet approval.

The Chief Minister alleged that the neighbouring countries like Bangladesh, Nepal and Myanmar have been aiding and abetting the terrorist outfits to foment trouble in the state. He said in his visit to Delhi, he called on Prime minister Manmohan Singh, home minister P Chidambaram and external affairs minister Pranab Mukherjee and urged them to exert pressure on these neighbouring countries to stop harbouring the terrorist outfits.
