The third biennial conference of the All Assam Mid-Day Meal Workers' Union, Sivasagar District Committee, was held on Saturday at Nazira Girls' Higher Secondary School.
The event, attended by several state-level office bearers of the union, served as a platform for mid-day meal workers to raise their concerns and discuss the challenges they face in their work. Issues such as job security, wages, and welfare measures dominated the discussions.
The conference also reconstituted the Sivasagar District Committee of the union and elected new representatives to the upcoming state conference.
Addressing the gathering, state leaders of the union emphasized the need for unity and collective action, noting that only through solidarity could the longstanding demands of the workers be addressed.
The newly formed Sivasagar District Committee is expected to intensify efforts to safeguard the rights and interests of mid-day meal workers in the district while ensuring that their voices are represented at the state level.
