The first-ever Bodoland Mohotsov, a grand cultural event, is set to commence on Friday with a two-day program at the SAI Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, New Delhi. Organized under the theme “Ethos of Peace and Harmony: An Integral Part of Nation Building,” the event is spearheaded by the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU), Bodo Sahitya Sabha, and Dularai Bodo Harimu Afad, in collaboration with the Government of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
The Mohotsov coincides with the 73rd foundation day celebration of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha (Bodo Thunlai Saan), which will be observed on Saturday, November 16.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will grace the occasion as the chief guest on Friday evening, accompanied by a distinguished lineup of dignitaries from various sectors. Notable attendees include Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Cabinet Ministers Dr. Dharmendra Pradhan and Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister of State Pabitra Margherita, Chief Executive Member of BTR Pramod Boro, and Assam Cabinet Minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma.
The event is expected to draw nearly five thousand participants from different states, including the Bodoland Territorial Region and Assam. Attendees will be treated to a range of activities such as multicultural performances, exhibitions, rallies, seminars, and open discussions.
ABSU President Dipen Boro emphasized that the Bodoland Mohotsov aims to promote the upliftment and development of Bodo language, literature, and culture nationwide. He confirmed that all necessary preparations have been completed, ensuring a seamless experience for the attendees.
“The event will commemorate the restoration of peace following the historic signing of the third Bodo Peace Accord on January 27, 2020, which led to the creation of the Bodoland Territorial Region,” he stated. Boro further highlighted that the festival seeks to underscore peace and harmony among citizens in the Bodoland region and the state of Assam.
With comprehensive preparations in place, the Bodoland Mohotsov promises to be a landmark celebration showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Bodo community and its integral role in fostering national unity.
